Bronx Minister Accused Of Sexually Abusing 2nd Girl In Congregation

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- A Bronx minister charged with having a years-long sexual relationship with a young girl who attended his storefront church is accused of sexually abusing another girl in his congregation.

Rev. Michael Clare, who was free on bail, is now being held on $700,000 cash bail. A judge on Thursday raised the bail on a new indictment charging him with rape, criminal sex act, sexual abuse and other charges.

Clare, 40, also was ordered to stay away from children under the age of 16 and was ordered to surrender his passport.

Prosecutors say the Harvest Worship Center pastor sexually abused the 14-year-old girl from 2009 to 2011.

The alleged victim was a student at the church-affiliated Harvest Preparatory Academy where Clare serves as the principal.

In the earlier case, prosecutors say the victim was 12 and became pregnant at 15. DNA linked Clare to the child.
