Cops: Suspect Dumped Woman's Body In L.I. Park After They Injected Heroin, Took Xanax

MANORVILLE, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Long Island say that have made an arrest in connection with a body found in Manorville earlier this week.

Suffolk County police said they arrested and charged 34-year-old Matthew Kraus for disposing the body of 45-year-old Pura Simancas in the woods at Manorville Hills County Park sometime between Feb. 27 and 28.

Authorities said Kraus dumped Simancas' body after the two had injected heroin and taken Xanax. Kraus was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Friday.

Police said a jogger came across the body Wednesday.

Police earlier said there was no apparent link between the remains and any other cases on Long Island in which human remains have been found.

The investigation is ongoing.
