Jeremy Lin, Ex-ESPN Headline Writer Reportedly Dine In Manhattan

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Knicks guard Jeremy Lin had lunch on Tuesday with Anthony Federico, the former ESPN employee who was fired for writing a racially insensitive headline about Lin last month, Newsday reported.

The paper says that the 28-year-old Connecticut man and the Knicks' sensation touched on a variety of subjects in their time spent together, including such matters as their shared Christian faith and Lin's nagging injury.

"It went incredible," Federico told Newsday. "I'm just so excited we had a chance to meet. We talked for an hour. I'm just so thankful."

The meeting was set up when a family member of Lin's emailed Federico over a month ago, the ex-headline writer said. Though it was difficult to schedule a meeting because of Lin's hectic schedule, the two finally were able to get together at an undisclosed Manhattan restaurant.

"The fact that he reached out to me..." Federico told Newsday. "The fact that he took the time to meet with me in his insanely busy schedule ... He's just a wonderful, humble person. He didn't have to do that, especially after everything had kind of died down for the most part.

"We talked more about matters of faith [and] reconciliation. We talked about our shared Christian values and what we're both trying do with this situation . . . We didn't talk about the headline for more than three minutes."

ESPN fired Federico on Feb. 19 when he wrote "Chi– in the Armor" in a headline in reference to Lin on ESPN's mobile site.

Do you agree that Lin should forgive Anthony Federico for his horrible mistake? Sound off below...
