NEWARK, NJ (CBSNewYork) - Things are sounding a lot better this morning at Newark Penn Station, thanks to an upgraded P.A. system.

WCBS 880’s Alex Silverman On The Story

The announcement “5:37 North Jersey Coast Line to Penn Station New York” was smooth and soothing, as far as computer generated voices go.

A man named Dominic told WCBS 880 reporter Alex Silverman it was music to his ears.

“Especially when trains come in on other tracks, you can’t hear anything, this, yeah, you can actually hear,” he said.

The new announcement system comes with minute-by-minute countdowns on the new displays.

But what not everyone is thrilled to be treated to at 5:00 in the morning is the new music, also apparently synthesized.

“Not so great, not so great, hahaha,” said one man.

You might think you are at an inexpensive Italian restaurant for a couple of moments, but at least you wont miss your train.
