NYC Divorce Expo Is ‘One-Stop Shopping’ For Lonely Hearts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — New York City’s first-ever Divorce Expo is being touted as “one-stop shopping” for lonely hearts suffering through a breakup.

“Start Over Smart” will be held at the Metropolitan Pavilion this weekend. Its founders say the expo is an antidote to the nation’s massive wedding planning industry.

Various exhibits will help people sort through recommended divorce attorneys, therapists and financial planners. There will be free makeovers and dating advice, personal shoppers, hairstylists and matchmakers. An evening “mixer” will allow divorcees to socialize and perhaps meet someone new.

Divorce expos have been held in other cities, but this is billed as the first for New York.

Francine Baras, who co-founded the event, says they are hoping to show people that there really is a life after divorce.

see when watching this divorce expo..kind of makes me upset..i know 13 people who have got’n a divorce and everyone but 1 was bc the lady cheated. ive never been married bc nice guys finish last, but everything i see about the expo is helping out the woman in the divorce. makeup and hair people, helping out the lady with finances. She the one getting most of the money in the divorce. I’ve seen first hand that men suffer just as much and this just seems like your helping out the woman to much..what about the men? please write back

Divorce for a man with children, especially in New York, is one of the greatest injustices in the United States. The courts, your own lawyer, the police and everyone in between are not only not on your side, but intentionally make life almost unbearable. This pathetic expo is just another example of the discrace that is a system catering to undeserving females (notice i did not use women, as women as it is defined have long vanished). I find this as repulsive as I find everything else in the system.
