The survey shows Connecticut has made a conscious effort through its public policy to make sure it's inclusive of women.

Teresa Younger, executive director of Permanent Commission on the Status of Women, says that in any of the categories examined, women consistently ranked it higher in Connecticut than they did in the other 49 states.

"Women's health, their education, family support, economic security, and elimination of gender discrimination," she told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.

Younger says woman still have a way to go for pay equality in Connecticut, while the disparity is lower than it might be for women in other states, they are still only earning $0.76 to the dollar that is paid to their male counterparts in the workforce.
