NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — An auxiliary police officer was killed Wednesday morning after being shot once in the back and left to die.

EMS responders found Francky Aleger, 39, unconscious near the corner of East 95th Street and Glenwood Road in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.  The incident happened just 10 blocks from his home and he was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

1010 WINS Reporter Al Jones spoke with neighbors…

Aleger, a father of two, had been walking to the train around 6 a.m. to get to work at Mount Sinai Hospital, where he worked as an medical orderly.

Neighbors expressed shock and told 1010 WINS’ reporter Al Jones that Aleger was a “good guy.”

“He used to play with my girls, and he’s a good, good guy. He loves the children. That’s sad to see what happened,” Nancy Billet said.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
