Eight Lucky LIRR Commuters Win Bike Locker Lottery In Bellmore

BELLMORE, NY (CBSNewYork) – Some lucky lottery winners on Long Island will get to pedal their winnings.

WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs On The Story

Eight Long Island Rail Road commuters were awarded free bicycle lockers for a year at the Bellmore station. The free lockers are part of a project to encourage riding bikes to work.

It has a lot of commuters saying ‘What about me?’

“I think it’s great,” said one man who wishes he had one of the lockers. “I have a brand new bike I haven’t used in two years.”

The lockers are just outside the station and are designed to protect your bike from theft and bad weather.

  3. Marlin says:

How many were looking to get one, that would have been a nice addition to the article, or how much does it cost the LIRR? Maybe they shoud charge to offset the cost, wait that is to forward thinking for those in Jamacia HQ.

  4. Jimmy says:

Lucky? I don’t trust the LIRR. My guess is the fix was in.
