Man Accused Of Having Semi-Automatic Handgun Arrested In Midtown Subway Station

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – A man was stopped by police officers on Friday evening in a subway station on 42nd street and 8th avenue in Manhattan after he walked through the exit gate and entered the transit system illegally, police said.

The officers then stopped the man and noticed that he tried to discard a plastic bag with some form of white powdering inside it, the NYPD said. Authorities said he was then placed under arrest, and after searching him, they found a loaded semi-automatic handgun  in his waistband.

The accused perpetrator, Travis Marks, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance, theft of service and criminal trespass.
