Overnight House Fire Kills NJ Woman
WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) -- Authorities say a southern New Jersey woman has died after a fast-moving fire engulfed her home.
Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office spokesman Bernie Weisenfeld says 56-year-old Darlene Starrett was pronounced dead at the scene early Saturday.
Her body was found shortly after firefighters arrived at her Washington Township home, and a cause of death has not yet been determined.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Saturday afternoon.
Weisenfeld said Starrett lived at the home with her adult son, who was at work in Pennsylvania when the fire broke out around 12:30 a.m.
