Coram Woman Dies In Crash On Long Island

MEDFORD, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- Suffolk County Police were investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Coram woman Sunday.

Maria Nunez, 82, was driving her 2003 Ford Focus northbound on Route 112 when, police said, her vehicle crossed over into the southbound lane and struck a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in front of 2944 Route 112, in Medford, at 12:06 p.m.

Nunez, of 16 Adams, Ct., was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Chevrolet, Edward Montalvo, 41, of 15 Campfire Lane, Coram, his wife Karen, 36, and their two children ages 4, and 7, were also transported to Brookhaven Memorial Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries.

Both vehicles were impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
