Survey: Many Women Would Trade IQ Points For Bigger Breasts

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A new survey found that a third of women would lower their IQ if it meant that the size of their breasts would increase.

Forty-one percent of the more than two-thousand women who answered an unscientific, online survey said that they would like to have bigger breasts, and more than a quarter of women said that they would trade IQ points for a more generous chest because it would make them "feel happier."

CBS 2's Emily Smith spoke to women in Manhattan and found out that they vehemently disagreed.

"If they were actually in a doctor's office and it was like 'We are going to take a little bit of your brain, and you're going to get bigger breasts for it,' I don't think anyone would go for it," said Sonia Ossorio, of The National Organization Of Women.

Ossorio told Smith that she believes the majority of women who said that they wanted bigger breasts did so in a tongue-in-cheek manner.

Psychologist Ruth Lippin said that the survey and its answers are a sad step back in time.

"I have to say I was a little surprised that the question regarding the breasts is still that important...I thought we had gotten a little past that," said Lippin.

But the results of the survey are far from conclusive. A CBS 2 survey found that women who say that they value breast size over intelligence are lying.
