Magic Interested In Luring Donnie Walsh To Cool Down Drama In Orlando?
NEW YORK (WFAN) - Donnie Walsh, the Knicks’ former president and current advisor, has been a part of the NBA for decades, and over those years his name has been known to be right at the center of the rumor mill when it comes to head coaching jobs and executive positions.
Well, it appears to be happening again.
The 71 year old’s contract expires on June 30, and the Magic might be interested in luring him to Orlando to help cool down the drama surrounding Dwight Howard, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reported.
Walsh has received permission from Madison Square Garden chairman James Dolan to discuss executive positions with other teams, and several teams will likely reach out to the NBA veteran.
The former Nuggets coach succeeded in bringing the Knicks back to respectability during his tenure, but he’s had to deal with some health problems over the past few years. Still, it remains unlikely that he’ll be leaving the NBA any time soon.
Walsh signed Amar’e Stoudemire in June of 2010 and later landed Carmelo Anthony in a major multi-player deal before resigning as general manager in June and staying on as a consultant.
Even though he’s no longer the general manager, how much of an impact do you think Walsh still has on the Knicks? Sound off with your comments below…
