PARSIPPANY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) – Authorities in Morris County have confirmed remains found Thursday in Parsippany are human.

Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said the discovery was made by a landscaper working on Sylvan Drive, a little over a mile from the intersection of Interstates 80 and 287 in Parsippany.

WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reports

Bianchi said he doesn’t know how long the remains have been out here.

“They’re not fresh,” he said. “We’re not giving a date on them right now until we have further confirmation from the medical examiner.”

The remains haven’t been identified.

Police are still investigating.
