Jury Selection Begins In Narcy Novack Hotel Heir Killing Case

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Jury selection begins Tuesday in a high-profile murder case in Westchester County.

Narcy Novack is accused of hiring hit men to kill her husband at the Rye Town Hilton Hotel in 2009. Novack's husband was Ben Novack Jr., 53, whose father built the famous Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

Prosecutors say Novack had her husband killed to secure his $10 million estate for herself. Her husband was beaten and stabbed to death.

Novack, of Fort Lauderdale, is also accused of arranging the Florida killing of her mother-in-law, Bernice Novak, a few months earlier. She was found dead in her Fort Lauderdale home.

Narcy Novack's brother, Cristobal Veliz, 57, of Brooklyn, is a co-defendant in both killings.

The judge has ruled that prosecutors will not be able to bring up information about an incident in 2002 in which Novack allegedly tied up her husband and removed valuables from their home.

Both Novack and Veliz have pleaded not guilty.
