Yankees To Don Throwback Uniforms In Honor Of Fenway Park's 100th Anniversary

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The Yankees may very well have the most classic and most recognizable uniform in sports. The pinstripes and navy blue are synonymous with tradition and championships, not to mention names like Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Mantle, Mattingly and Jeter.

And on Friday night, the Yankees will go back to their roots -- to nearly the very beginning -- and don throwback uniforms in honor of Fenway Park's 100th anniversary, according to CBSSports.com. Both New York and Boston will wear the oldschool unis, including replicas of the hats that the bitter rivals wore when the two clubs opened the iconic Boston Park on April 20, 1912.

Boston players will wear solid white hats, while the Bombers will wear gray caps with the NY logo, CBSSports.com reported.

The Red Sox edged the Yankees (then the Highlanders), 7-6, in 11 innings when the two teams collided at the unveiling of Fenway Park 100 years ago Friday.
