King Henrik Named A Finalist For The Vezina Trophy For Fourth Time

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Henrik Lundqvist, the Rangers' superstar goaltender, has been named a finalist for this season's Vezina Trophy, which is awarded to the league's best goalie of the year.

Also up for the award are the Los Angeles Kings' Jonathan  Quick and the Nashville Predators' Pekka Rinne.

Behind Lundqvist's stellar play at the net this season, the Blueshirts finished atop the Eastern Conference for the first time since their Stanley Cup-winning season of 1993-1994.

The 30-year-old Swede had arguably his best season in 2011-12, winning a career-best 39 games in just 62 played. He also posted career bests in other statistical categories, including a 1.97 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. The 12-year NHL veteran finished in the top four in the league in victories, goals-against average, save percentage and shutouts, of which he recorded eight.

Lundqvist was a finalist for the Vezina Trophy in his first three seasons in the NHL, finishing third all three times.

The award is voted on by each of the general managers of the 30 NHL teams, and the winner will be announced at the 2012 NHL Awards Show on June 20.
