Survey Reveals Where Biggest Percentage Of Cheating Spouses In N.Y. Live

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Apparently, there is a lot of extra-marital "necking" going on, among other things, in posh Great Neck.

In fact, a lot of affluent towns in the Empire State are filled with spouses who are louses, according to a survey by AshleyMadison.com, a web site that caters to people looking to have discreet extramarital affairs.

In fact, the site boasts it is "the most successful website for finding cheating partners."

In a report in the New York Post, Noel Biderman, CEO of AshleyMadison.com said, "There seems to be a disproportionate amount of cheating spouses in affluent areas and neighborhoods in New York."

Without citing any one specific reason as to why these towns ranked higher than others, Biderman gave the following theory to The Post: "In the New York area in particular, with successful people there may be more cheating going on because the more opportunity you're given — and that's the reason you see athletes, celebrities and politicians involved in affairs — the more other people thrust themselves at you."

The Web site, which is based in Toronto, currently has more than 13 million members worldwide, with nearly half a million who live in the greater New York metro area, according to The Post.

Here's how they got the rankings: Ashley Madison officials compared government census data to the area codes of their members and calculated a percentage. In the case of Great Neck, they found that at least 3.02 percent of the town's adult residents are paid members of the dating site, according to The Post.

Curious as to what towns made the top 10? Here they are:

1). Great Neck, L.I.

2). Park Slope, Brooklyn

3). Upper East Side

4). Forest Hills, Queens

5). TriBeCa

6). New City - Rockland County

7). Douglaston, Queens

8). Riverdale, The Bronx

9). Howard Beach, Brooklyn

10). Garden City, L.I.
