Rutgers' Mohamed Sanu Victim Of 'Cruel' Pick Prank At NFL Draft

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- For Rutgers wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, it was a moment of pure elation.

Then, devastation.

With the Cincinatti Bengals on the clock Thursday night, Sanu got the call that he'd been waiting for: Welcome to the NFL, kid.

His agent, Mike McCartney, tweeted the news as Sanu's draft party prepared to hear his name announced by league commissioner Roger Goodell.

Then it happened. With the 27th pick, Cincinnati selected Wisconsin offensive lineman Kevin Zeitler.

"Very cruel prank call to a Sanu tonight - very sad that someone would do that," McCartney said via Twitter. "My apologies to the twitter world for my tweet."

The prankster "identified himself as being from the Bengals, and said Cincinnati was about to pick him," according to Peter King of SI.com. Sanu's name was never called as the Giants tabbed Virginia Tech running back David Wilson to close out the first round.

"Tough night," McCartney tweeted. "We all get knocked down in life and we gotta get back up. I believe in Mohamed Sanu as a player and person!"

So do the RU faithful. The 22-year-old is expected to get good news by the time the second and third rounds wrap up Friday.

Sanu seemed to take the prank in stride.

"Thank God for giving me another day," he tweeted Friday morning, "and another opportunity to chase my dream ... #thankfulandblessed."

Your thoughts on the prank? When do you think Sanu will be picked? Sound off below...
