City Lets Megabus Stay Under Bus Terminal Despite Port Authority Objections

That's literally right under the Port Authority Bus Terminal, and the Port Authority is not happy about it, WCBS 880's Rich Lamb reported.

The Port Authority wants Megabus to have to pay the same fees other buses pay to pick up and drop off passengers at the bus terminal.

But the city DOT has decided to renew the permit.

"We're going to leave the permit in place. We need to get this issue resolved and we need to get state legislation passed that allows the city of New York to regulate these buses on city streets," Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan told Lamb.

She said the situation is very dangerous, like the wild west, but she insisted she needs state legislation to act.
