Police Looking For Suspect In Tottenville Home Invasion

NEW  YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Police on Staten Island are looking for a man wanted for a home invasion in Tottenville Tuesday morning.

Around 7 a.m., an armed man wearing a black mask confronted a homeowner outside his Dawn Court home, police said. The victim was forced back into the home where the suspect stole some money and jewelry before fleeing.

The family was home at the time, but no one was hurt.

For about an hour, an active manhunt was under way in the area as police looked for the suspect. So far, there are no reports of any arrests.

One neighbor said nothing like this has happened before on the private, dead-end street with a school less than half a block away.

"You never know," he said."Anything can happen anyplace, anytime."

Police are investigating whether Tuesday's incident is connected to a series of home invasions on Staten Island in recent months.
