The new initiative is similar to the "See Something? Say Something" campaign on the subway system which is aimed at fighting terrorism.

Signs will be going up around the city saying, "Report domestic violence. Don't mind your own business."

"Silence is an accomplice to the crime of domestic violence. That's why people should heed the message of this campaign," Police Commissioner Ray Kelly told reporters on Tuesday.

"New Yorkers need to do what they do best, as it relates to domestic violence. They need to speak up," Speaker Christine Quinn said.

The posters, which have been printed in English, Spanish and Russian, will be plastered on buses and in neighborhoods with the highest number of domestic violence cases, mostly in the boroughs of Brooklyn and the Bronx.
