DA: 2 Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide At Hilton Garden Inn Near JFK

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Two people were killed  Thursday afternoon in a shooing at a hotel near John. F. Kennedy International Airport. It appears to be an apparent murder-suicide, officials said.

The incident took place at the Hilton Garden Inn, which is one of many small hotels near the airport. Six men were in the cafe by the lobby when two of them started arguing, CBS 2's Pablo Guzman reported.

"There was a group of individuals who were having a meeting in the area just off the lobby and one of the individuals stood up, fired a weapon at another and then took his own life," Queens District Attorney Richard Brown told reporters.

The other four men tried to run, but were stopped by hotel security, but details are still very unclear and detectives are trying to sort out the mysterious shooting.

"We have two males -- both deceased, white males -- in their 30's I would guess. No identification on them at this time," Brown said.

Five people have been taken into police custody for additional questioning, 1010 WINS' Al Jones reported.

The investigation is ongoing.
