Brooklyn Man Arrested On Manslaughter Charges In Connection With Fatal Accident

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Police have arrested a Brooklyn man on manslaughter and homicide charges after he allegedly killed a 24-year-old man in Sunnyside Queens while driving drunk.

Sayesh Avedis, 58, was driving westbound on Greenpoint Avenue when he ran down a pedestrian at 46th street, according to police. He is also said to have struck several parked cars.

The victim, who remains unidentified was pronounced dead on arrival at Elmhurst Hospital.

Avedis has been charged with manslaughter, vehicular manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and driving while intoxicated.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
