Wetzel saw commotion near the tracks where the woman had fallen. He lifted her up to the platform, where other passengers helped pull her to safety.

Wetzel told 1010 WINS reporter Sonia Rincon that he knew he needed to do something, when he saw the woman lying on the tracks.

"The decision was going to be either stay there and watch this happen, or do something about it," he said.

Wetzel also credited the passengers who helped pull the woman up onto the platform.
