Report: Wife Of Jets' Cromartie Faked Suicide Attempt In Fit Of Jealousy

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Antonio Cromartie is back in the news. And no, it's not for football.

His personal life was under the microscope again this weekend when the New York Post reported Cromartie's wife, Terricka, faked a suicide attempt last year in a fit of jealousy.

It started when she allegedly texted, "God forgive me, I don't want to die. What have I done?" and "I cut my wrists. I took those pills" to the Jets star. The panicked cornerback then called the Randolph Township, N.J., police department from Miami, the Post reported.

Police, unable to reach anyone at Cromartie's home, "broke down two doors" and found a pregnant Terricka in bed, unharmed "with her two daughters," according to the paper.

"She stated that she had no intention of going through with the act," a police report stated, according to the Post. "She said she was exercising her First Amendment right to free speech and could say whatever she wanted."

Terricka "confessed" to putting a scare in her husband because she thought he had engaged in an extramarital affair, the paper reported, and also admitted to sending texts to the woman she believed to be the alleged mistress.

She then very reluctantly agreed to a psychiatric evaluation for the May 6, 2011, incident, the Post reported.

Antonio Cromartie signed a four-year, $32 million contract to stay with the Jets last year. He famously bungled an attempt to list his kids on HBO's "Hard Knocks" in 2010.

In April, the Post reported the months-ago arrival of Cromartie's newest baby boy, Jagger. That would bring his current total to 10 children with eight mothers in six states -- and there could be two more on the way. Terricka recently hinted on Twitter that she and Antonio were expecting twins.
