MORRISTOWN, NJ(CBSNewYork) — Prosecutors from multiple counties in New Jersey have announced the conclusion of a seven-month gang investigation.

The investigation was coordinated and run by the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Special Operations Division. The investigation was part of an ongoing undercover operation that has resulted in two-dozen arrests as well as the seizure of massive amounts of drugs and weapons.

Law enforcement officials told CBS 2’s Dick Brennan that the goal of the investigation was not only to arrest those involved, but to cripple the organization.

“We took our time to go very slowly, to make sure we got all of the players who are alleged to have been involved in this organization,” Said Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi.

Two-thousand packages of heroin, seven ounces of cocaine, and a large amount of weapons and ammunition were seized.

The investigation was sparked following a shooting in Morristown. Among those arrested in the bust was alleged gang leader Rashan Caldwell, Caldwell has been charged in the shooting.

Prosecutors expect to make more arrests.
