Pranksters With 'Improv Everywhere' Set Off 100 Car Alarms At Once

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - "Improv Everywhere," the group that's known for their well-organized, occasionally bizarre public pranks and performances, is at it again.

This time, they went to Staten Island, to the parking lot between Lowe's and Kohl's on Forrest Avenue. The prank? Detonating 100 car alarms at once.

All of the participants parked their cars in the lot. The only people asked to participate were folks whose cars had keyless entry systems.

The group then retreated to behind a nearby wall where they could gather, out of sight to pedestrians, and set off their alarms using their keyless remotes.

With the help of a few cameras, they captured the confused look on the faces of shoppers as they were suddenly surrounded by blasting car alarms.

It seems the folks at Improv Everywhere are aware that not everyone would appreciate this prank as much as they have some of the previous efforts.

"Obviously car horns are not a pleasant thing, but we hoped that the sheer volume and absurdity of it all would make it a unique experience for the people who witnessed it," the organizers wrote on their website. "Some enjoyed it more than others, and there were quite a few laughs."

The group said the video is a composite of three different attempts at the prank. The group said on their website that they did it a fourth time as the participants were leaving, adding that everybody popped their trunk besides.

Take a look at the video and tell us what you think about the prank in the comments section below.
