NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A 25-year-old woman was arrested and charged with manslaughter Wednesday night after allegedly striking her 17-year-old boyfriend in the Bronx with her SUV, killing him.

Jasmine Diaz, of the Bronx, was also charged with leaving the scene of an accident in the incident, which took place just before 2 a.m. at East 165th Street and Morris Avenue in Melrose, police said.

Relatives and police said the teen -- identified as Franklyn Hernandez -- and Diaz had been arguing over Diaz's cellphone earlier in the night in the lobby of the building where he lived.  The couple had been dating for two years, according to the family.

"I feel so terrible right now. Nobody's going to bring my son back." Hernandez's mother, Iris Hernandez, told 1010 WINS' Carol D'Auria. "It shouldn't have happened. [She] took advantage of him. For me, to rot in jail -- that's what I want for her."

Hernandez's sister, Narita Santos, said Diaz hit her brother in the head with a bottle and walked away following the argument.

"She was very abusive. She used to hit him all the time," she said.

Santos said her brother was crazy in love with Diaz and tried to follow her.  That's when Diaz got into her the Lincoln Navigator and allegedly ran him down, not once, but twice, according to family members.

"She ran over his whole body," his sister said. "She did it twice and then she ran off."

Hernandez was pronounced dead at Lincoln Hospital.
