Board Game Record Set In New York

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- New York baseball fans who couldn't score a ticket to the Subway Series were still able to catch some intense baseball action on Saturday.

Brett Carow and Sam Hennemann took each other on in a record-breaking game of Strat-O-Matic Baseball at Foley's Ny Pub & Restaurant on West 33rd Street. The game set the record for the most consecutive hours spent playing a board game.

The record-breaking session was Fifty Four hours long, but Strat-O-Matic spokesperson Doug Drotman said that with such a passionate fan base, finding a pair willing to participate was easy.

"Our fans are passionate and really into the game. One of the beautiful things about the game is that people love to share their stories. We've heard from people who've pulled all nighters or played the game all weekend," he said.

The record-breaking showdown featured a classic New York matchup; the 1951 Brooklyn Dodgers taking on the New York Giants.

Carow won the game but told 1010 WINS reporter Gary Baumgarten that if the pair's record is beaten he will not make an attempt to reclaim it.

"No, I'm not gonna do it again. We decided we were going to give it a shot and if we don't make it, that's it," he said.

The previous record was held by Zombies and was set in August 2011.
