Not The Best Day To Drive In NYC As Street Fairs And Block Parties Cause Traffic

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Tri-State area residents were encouraged to avoid driving in New York City on Saturday, if possible.  It was widely advised to take mass transit, as numerous events caused several street closures.

Central Park West was closed between 59th Street and 90th Street until 11 a.m. because of a race, and a street fair closed First Avenue between 68th Street and 79th Street until 6 p.m.

Another street fair closed 5th Avenue from 59th Street to Washington Square North from noon until 2:30 p.m. In addition, block parties are taking place on Broadway between 25th Street and 26th Street and on Madison Avenue between 23rd Street and 28th Street.

Also, yet another street festival closed large stretches of Second and Third Avenues this afternoon.
