"Jet Blue and Virgin America committed that they would not charge extra for families that were traveling together," he said.

In May the Senator called on airlines to drop additional fees on aisle and window seats. Delta, American, and U.S. Airways have yet to respond to this request.

Senator Schumer told reporters that the policy was unfair.

"To be faced with the choice of paying $200 more or having you know, little Abigail sit seventeen rows behind you, she's five years old, it's not fair at all," he said.

Senator Schumer also asked the Federal Government to require airlines to disclose fees upfront when tickets are purchased.
