Police said the victims were a 14-year-old, who was raped, along with a 12-year-old, who was the victim of attempted rape.

The assaults allegedly occurred over a four-day period last week at the home of one of the victims.

The four suspects are three 13-year-olds and one 12-year-old.

Ramapo Police Lt. Mark Emma said it's believed there are two victims, but investigators are continuing their work, and the suspects will face charges as juveniles.

"If these young men were adults, the classification would be a B felony, and it would be a substantial amount of prison time," Emma told Murnane.

East Ramapo School District safety and security coordinator Tom Carton said the suspects are not familiar figures in disciplinary proceedings.

"I've been here almost six years, and this is the first time anything like this has ever happened," Carton told Murnane. "We deal with kids cutting class, minor stuff."

The suspects reportedly have been sent to a juvenile facility across the Hudson River in Westchester County ahead of a court hearing in this case on Thursday.
