Outdoor Movie Screenings To Take Place Across Five Boroughs

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Between June 21st and September 27th, 40 free outdoor movie screenings will take place across the five boroughs.

The screenings, presented jointly by NYC & Company and Rooftop Films, will take place in a variety of locations and venues, showcasing different neighborhoods and integrating different aspects of community life.

"This summer we will highlight the vibrancy of neighborhoods across the City as we partner with Rooftop Films to deliver free outdoor movie screenings in parks, beaches, outdoor markets and more," said George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company.

Viewers can expect to pick from classic movies, blockbuster hits, independent documentaries and short films.

Below, you will find a list of the 7 participating locations and the dates of the film screenings.

Beginning July 10th, Bronx Terminal Market will host screenings of family-friendly movies every other Tuesday through the end of August.

Every Monday from July 2nd to August 6th, in addition to Saturday July 14th, Coney Island Flicks on the Beach will show a mixture of classic and new motion pictures on the beach.

The Target Passport Fridays at the Queens Museum of Art in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park will begin on July 6th and run through August 24th.

Dekalb Market will host free bike-in movies on the last Thursday of every month until September 27 and two low-cost movies on Thursday, June 21, and Friday, July 1.

Each Wednesday evening, movie screenings will Socrates Sculpture Park in Long Island City will host outdoor flicks.

Thursday nights from July 26 to August 16 the St. George Film Series on Staten Island will host sports-themed movie screenings.

Every Thursday from June 28 to August 16 in Tompkins Square Park, Films in Tompkins will host screenings of classic and modern film.
