Long Island Woman Injured By Falling Tree Limb In Massapequa Reserve

MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Long Island woman escaped serious injury Friday morning after a tree limb fell on her.

The 77-year-old woman was riding her bike on a path in the Massapequa Reserve when the dead branch came crashing down, CBS 2 reported.

Witnesses said the woman was knocked off her bike and trapped under the tree limb.

"She was directly in its path," witness Robert Lazzara said. "It was too late. She couldn't escape it and it fell on her."

"She looked like she was frantic," witness Steve Scura said. "She was panicking. She was making a phone call to her daughter and you could visibly see she had what looked like a break or fracture in her arm."

The woman was treated for a broken arm at St. Joseph's Hospital.
