Homeless Chelsea Man Says He's Descendant Of Herman Melville; Has Sights Set On $75 Million

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Never mind the white whale; There's a homeless man in Chelsea who has a real Moby-Dick obsession.

Charles Cors has filed half-a-dozen lawsuits asserting that he's a descendant of Moby-Dick author Herman Melville. His goal is to acquire what he claims is the $75 million estate of the nineteenth-century author.

In the handwritten suits, Cors said that he's a descendant of Melville. And while Moby-Dick is published all over the world, Cors said, he remains in dire poverty. Cors added that Melville's estate includes everything from Tiffany & Co. to the Chrysler Building.

There has been no confirmation from The Melville Society, which is "dedicated to the study and appreciation of the nineteenth-century American author."

Well this is certainly an unconventional method of trying to make some money. Does your gut tell you that he's telling the truth or that he's making it all up? Sound off with your thoughts and comments in the section below...
