Now, they say they have their man.
Detective Captain James Clark told WCBS 880 reporter Sean Adams that now under arrest is 33-year-old Ronald Catti, a paroled burglar from Brooklyn.
“I believe, personally, that Mr. Catti is definitely the cause of the majority of Wayne’s problems,” Clark said. “Mr. Catti had befriended a female in the township who was living pretty much at the center of where a large percentage of the burglaries that have been occurring in Wayne.”
Catti’s black Mercedes matched witness descriptions and a patrol sergeant pulled him over.
Police ran his name and saw the criminal history.
So detectives put Catti under surveillance.
He allegedly broke into a home in Little Falls on Monday and police gave chase. Catti crashed in Wayne and ran.
Two hours later, a police dog found him hiding in a child’s playhouse.
The Record reported that he is being held on $150,000 bail.
Two other suspected burglars were arrested earlier this month.
