Jerry “Rello” Recco gave us his first update of the morning. He began with the positive portion of Monday’s local baseball action: the Yankees’ win over the Indians.

When Dewayne Wise hit his first home run as a Yankee in the second inning, the stage was set for play-by-play man John Sterling to usher in his latest new home run call. But it was so lame that Craig decided a different one needed to be created in its place.

After Jerry played some postgame sound from the Yanks, Craig points out that today is Derek Jeter’s 38th birthday, so happy birthday El Capitan!

Then it was on to the Mets, who bungled their way to a 6-1 loss to the Cubs last night. We hear Josh Lewin’s play-by-play of two of the three defensive miscues in the seventh inning that led to their undoing. It was so bad that Terry Collins had to bite his tongue when the media asked him to describe his team’s play after the game.

Also, a classic double whammy for free-agent outfielder Marlon Byrd. Not only did he receive a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a drug called Tomoxifen, wait until you find out why he was taking it. All this and more, right here…
