Bronx Boy Dead After Falling Into Harlem River

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- A ten-year-old boy Bronx boy died after falling into the Harlem river on Saturday.

Ebrima Wally climbed over a fence at Roberto Clemente State park near the Richman Plaza at the River Park Towers, according to authorities.

Divers from the FDNY pulled Wally out of the water and rushed him to Bronx Lebanon Hospital where he passed away.

Wally's parents did not know where he was until they received a phone call telling them that their son was in the water, said a family member.

Family members and witnesses said that the boy, who could not swim, did not have a chance against the strong winds and currents.
