Cici's Pizza Chain Opens First Big Apple Location In The Bronx

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Looking for a place to satisfy your Texas-sized appetite?

Cici's Pizza, the Texas-based national chain, opened its first location in New York City on Monday on E. Gun Hill Road in the Bronx.

Cici's offers 28 different kinds of pizza in a buffet format with pasta, soup, salad and dessert for $6.99 for adults and $3.99 for children.

By the time the doors opened at 11 a.m., 200 people were in line.

The first 100 customers received special passes that are good for one free adult buffet every month for a year.

"It's just to save me a couple of dollars," said one customer, who got on line at 3 a.m. Monday to get the coupon.

Though you can't beat the prize, some customers admit the chain's food probably can't beat Bronx tradition.

"I don't think the quality is going to touch New York pizza," another customer said.

"A lot of people are going to want to come here for the endless buffet but there's dollar pizza spots all over the place," one man said.

Cici's has 550 restaurants in 34 states.
