Good Deeds Score Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert And Blake Shelton ‘Do Something!’ Award Nominations
The 2012 VH1 Do Something! Awards are set to air on August 21 at 9/8c on VH1 and will be hosted by “New Girl” castmates Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield and Lamorne Morris. DoSomething.org has been awarding individuals and groups or their community service since 1996.
This year three of country music’s biggest stars Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are up for nominations in recognition for their do-gooding ways along with some other uber famous celebs in music, television and film.
Country music darling, Taylor is nominated in both the Facebook and Music Artist categories.
Ben Affleck, Lenny Kravitz, Matt Damon and Selena Gomez are also being recognized for using social media for good with Taylor. Taylor used her Facebook for good when she responded to leukemia patient Kevin McGuire’s prom invitation which ended up earning more than 100,000 “likes” on Facebook from fans.
As an artist, Taylor took part in the benefit concert for tornado victims, donated $250,000 to football coach Nick Saban’s charity Nick’s Kids. But her good work didn’t stop there. She’s also being recognized for her work with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Habitat for Humanity. Other artists recognized for their amazing work are American Idol alum Adam Lambert, Shakira, Will.i.am, Katy Perry and One Direction.
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are nominated in the couples category and are among some pretty famous duos in music, television and film including couples Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia di Rossi, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon, and Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Country’s favorite couple of the moment are being recognized for a benefit concert which raised $70,000 for a veteran’s program and an animal shelter in Tishomingo, OK.
