NYPD: Livery Cab Driver Tried To Rape Woman In Astoria Apartment Building

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The NYPD is looking for a suspect wanted in an attempted rape in Queens on Friday morning just after 1:30 a.m.

Authorities said the 20-year-old female victim had just exited a livery cab and entered the vestibule area of an apartment building on 30th Street and 34th Avenue in Astoria when the driver of that cab followed her.

The driver then grabbed the woman from behind and attempted to rape her, police said. The victim struggled with the suspect before finally breaking free. The suspect fled in his vehicle.

The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man, between 20 and 25 years old, 5-foot-4 and 150 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black shirt with dark pants and frameless eye glasses. His vehicle is described as a light-colored Lincoln Towncar.
