Rex Ryan Drops 106 Pounds

NEW YORK (WFAN) - When the public gets their chance to see Rex Ryan at Jets' training camp, they'll notice he's looking a lot trimmer.

Ryan once weighed-in at 348 pounds, but has now dropped 106 pounds to a healthier 242.  He's no longer tipping the scales, which was the case before he underwent lap-band surgery.

"I don't know what I am, but certainly I don't think I'm in the morbidly obese category anymore," Ryan told Jenny Vrentas of the Star-Ledger.

He has since gone on tours to recommend the procedure and convinced his twin brother Rob Ryan, defensive coordinator of the Cowboys to have the surgery.  Rob has since lost 60 pounds.

Rex meanwhile, will be more energized and healthier.  The demands of NFL coaching demand long hours and Ryan's weight loss will help him have the energy to balance his professional and personal life.

"I make a lot of money doing something I love, I know how fortunate I am, but without your health, what do you really have? I want to see my kids grow, I want to see their kids grow up, and all that that was important to me," Ryan explained.

The Jets open public training camp on Saturday, July 28th.
