Police: Two Teens Killed In Early Morning DWI Crash

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Broken headlights and tire tracks mark the spot on Winters Drive in Mastic where two teens were killed in a crash that police say was the result of drunk driving.

The driver survived and is under arrest, Suffolk County Police told CBS 2's Ann Mercogliano.

"He was observed to be intoxicated, going to leave it at that," said Detective Sgt William Lamb.

Ryan Foote, 17, was driving his 2007 Hyundai when he veered off of the road shortly after 1 a.m., according to police. Passengers James McClease, 18, and Rashawn Minter, 17, were ejected from the car and died at the scene.

Family members said that McClease and Minter were related and that the group was returning from a friend's house.

Police pointed to incident as a reason to avoid getting behind the wheel after a night of drinking.

"The simplest advice you can give anyone is, don't drink and drive," said Detective Sgt Lamb.

Foote was taken to stony Brook University Medical Center where he was treated for bruises and lacerations.

He has been charged as an adult and is expected to be arraigned when he is released.
