East Meadow Man Surrenders To Authorities After Being Accused Of Fatal Hit-And-Run

MINEOLA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The driver accused in a deadly Long Island hit-and-run accident has turned himself in to police.

Nassau County detectives said that 48-year-old Jose Sorto of East Meadow surrendered to authorities on Saturday night, and he has been charged with two counts of leaving the scene of an incident.

Police said that he hit two brothers -- whose names haven't been released -- as they were attempting to cross Jerusalem Avenue in Uniondale. One was killed and the other was injured.

Sorto is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
