N.J. Community Rallies To Raise Funds For Woman Wounded In Movie Theater Massacre

BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A family is hard at work raising funds for their daughter, Jacci Fry, who was wounded in the Colorado movie theater shooting.

Cliff Fry told CBS 2's Derricke Dennis on Monday night that he is thankful that his daughter survived the deadly rampage.

"Unfortunately, my daughter was in the line of fire, but she's alive and I'm thankful for that," he said.

Cliff is chairing the fundraiser, along with the help of Jacci's friends and the rest of the family, in their home town of Byram Township.

The fundraiser centered around an auction of some of Jacci's favorite things like artwork, Yankees tickets, and a variety of hand-made items.

This was on the same day that shooting suspect, James Holmes, was charged with 142 counts of first-degree murder, attempted murder, and weapons charges.

Jacci's cousin, Kristi, told CBS 2 that she was happy to see Fry recovering.

"She's doing good, I'm proud of her. Nice to see all the support she has all the way back here," she said.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will help cover medical expenses and help Jacci make it home to see her family.
