Investigation Continues Into Potential Link Between Brooklyn Murders

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - The numbers one, seven and eight are linked to both Brooklyn killings.

Is it a weird coincidence or something more? Even if it is a coincidence, police have to take it seriously and see if it is something else.

It was back on July 6 when clothing-store owner Mohamed Gebeli was killed inside 7718 5th Avenue. This past Thursday night, Isaac Kadare was shot and killed inside 1877 86th Street in Bensonhurst.

One woman who had seen Kadare just hours before his death on Thursday believes that there's something to the numbers.

"I have a philosophy," she told 1010 WINS' Glenn Schuck. "There are probably no coincidences in life. This is my speculation, and maybe I'm wrong. But I have a strong belief that there is some connection."

Jamie is a furniture-store owner on 86th Street in Bensonhurst, and she told Schuck that she's frightened and just wants the suspect caught.

"I hope they catch him, and he deserves to go to jail for the rest of his life," she said.

Meanwhile, police continue to visit shop owners, posting flyers of the suspect and warning them to keep a look out. The manhunt is continuing in Brooklyn, and the reward for the suspect's capture is now over $20,000.

Do you think that the numbers prove that the murders are connected, or is it just a strange coincidence? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below...
