NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The search effort is ramped up for a missing Thomaston, Conn. woman, and Waterbury police are asking for the public’s help.  62-year-old Barbara Grohs has been missing for nearly a week.

Concerned residents took part in an organized search again on Sunday.

A Facebook page dedicated to the search effort said Grohs was last seen on July 30 while out for a doctor’s visit. She’s described as white, five-foot-three, about 160 pounds, with brown hair and green eyes. She was last  seen wearing a white shirt, dark capris and sneakers.

Waterbury police said that Grohs has a history of mental health issues and may be suicidal.

Reports said the Grohs family is worried that the woman may be hiding out, and they’re asking people to check their backyards, garages and sheds.

Waterbury police are asking anyone with information about Grohs’ whereabouts to call 203-574-6941 or 203-574-6911.
