NYC Matchmaker: Tips For Finding Love In The Big Apple

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It's not easy finding love, especially in New York City.

But one matchmaker says the key is to keep putting yourself out there.

Matchmaker Paul Brunson sat down with TV 10-55's  Carolina Bermudez, John Elliott and Lisa Kerney to answer your questions about dating.

What am I doing wrong?

"If you truly want love, you have to be the love," Brunson said.

Brunson said that the key to successful dating is knowing yourself and what you really want in a partner. "What type of personality do you have? What are the things that you live by. Think of those things first," he said.

Where is the best place to meet potential partners?

"Through friends or family. Online. And, actually. At work. You have to continue to put yourself out there."

As people get older, their social circles shrink. That is the first barrier to finding potential matches. "Continually expand your social circle," he said.

Do men and women date differently?

Definitely, says Brunson.

"I think there is a big difference between how men and women approach.," he said. "Men are very kind of cast the net. I call it the shot gun. Women are like the sniper.

Ladies are also more likely to date one person at a time, make a judgement on a potential future with that person and then move on, while men will date many people at once.

In the end, he said, "it's about values. Its about the connection of values."
