NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Police are looking for a driver wanted for a hit-and-run accident that left a Bronx man dead early Tuesday morning.

Jermaine Elliot, 26, was trying to cross the street around 4:40 a.m. when he was struck by a white box truck at East 233rd Street and Barnes Avenue in Wakefield, police said.

Elliot was rushed to Jacobi Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.

No arrests have been made.

The investigation is ongoing.
